Abstract: In this talk, firstly I will give a review on the recent developments of PDE-constrained optimization and optimal control, from different viewpoints including the control theory, optimization and numerical analysis. Then, a summary of my research in this field will be presented briefly. Lastly, we will discuss the new trends in PDE-constrained optimization and optimal control.

The brief introduction to the reporter: Gong Wei, associate researcher, Academy of Mathematics and Systems Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2009, he received his Ph.D. from the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 2009, he has worked in the Institute of Mathematics and Systems Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 2010 to 2012, he was a Humboldt scholar in the Department of Mathematics of the University of Hamburg, Germany. The main research fields include finite element method and numerical method for constrained optimization of partial differential equations. More than 30 papers have been published in SIAM J. Numer. Anal., SIAM J. Sci. Comput., SIAM J. Control Optim., J. Sci. Comput and other journals. He has presided over and completed a project of the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund, and presides over a project of the National Natural Science Foundation. In 2017, he was selected into the "Chen Jingrun Future Star" program of the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
